Kalami and Kouloura
Kalami Bay is set beneath the hills on Corfu’s north east coast, roughly 45 minutes drive from Corfu Town and the airport. Kalami isn’t a lively resort but it does have a small selection of tavernas, shops and bars as well as a lovely traditional Greek feel to the village. The beach is mainly pebbles with sunbeds available to hire and a couple of tavernas. Kalami also has a small marina just round the headland from the beach, there’s a taverna up the hill, overlooking the marina and this is a great place to sit and watch the Greeks coming and going about their business.
Looking down at Kouloura's tiny horseshoe shaped bay from the main coast road above, this is one of the most photographed spots in Corfu. Its trademark, the magnificent Agnelli villa, where countless celebrities and members of royalty have stayed in the past, is at the end of the bay. The village itself consists just of this villa, one other house, a church and a taverna. There is a small tree-lined shingle beach and a sheltered harbour for fishing boats and dinghies. The hillside surrounding the bay is covered in cypress trees.
